Spanabic, the new Spanglish.

Learning to be trilingual is a pretty perplexing affair. Language number two always has a nasty habit of resurfacing at exactly the wrong time.

Today in Arabic class:
Sarah: " ﻓﺼﻞ (fasl) means 'easy,' right?"
Me: "uh, fácil means 'easy' in.... Spanish."
Sarah: "oh. ....oops."
*For the curious, fasl means "season," as in Summer, Winter, Spring. And... also "classroom."

Some Coptic dude gettin' down in his awesome shades.

Or something.

I'm not entirely sure, actually, but it was in a church, and it was funny. ;)

Update on that pollution situation we were discussing (since I try to keep up with these things, in between news about England's latest football woes...):

So, is the picture a photo of a photo or is it a photo of something "real" with the sepia effect applied? And what is going on in the lower right corner? Looks like a translucent shield? The shades are amusing, regardless.

Actually it's a photo of an old (black and white, faded to sepia) photo of a Coptic priest from the Hanging Church. Unfortunately the photo was really far off the ground, so it was hard to get a picture of it from an angle where the cross-adorned lanterns wouldn't completely cover up the picture with their reflections in the glass.
